10 Month Milestones

Height: 28 1/4" (50th percentile)
Weight: 19.13 pounds(50th percentile)

Sleeping Patterns: Nothing changed here. Bedtime is consistently between 8:30-9:00. I wake her up at 7:00am during the week. On weekends, she'll sleep until about 7:30 or 8:00. Her morning nap usually happens around 10:30. That usually lasts at least 2 hours and then she'll take another nap, which usually lasts about an hour and a half, around 3:30 or 4:00.

Places Traveled: Nothing has changed here either. It was a busy month, as our life usually is. We slipped off to Lake Wales for a long Memorial Day Weekend, and then again in the beginning of June. The day that Riley turned 10 months, we headed to Hollywood Beach for our annual family Staycation and had a most enjoyable time!

Accomplishments: Why does it seem like I was just doing her 9 Month Milestone post. Seriously, can we just slow down a bit??? I know it's inevitable, but geeze, is my youngest little one really going to be 1 in less than 2 months? With that thought, I'll cut to the chase.

As you previously read, she's a sippy cup drinking, self-feeding, dancing machine.
Busted, eating snacks with Big Brother!

As I now have life experience in it, I can most definitely confirm that no 2 kids are alike, even if the "creators" are. It seems that I have myself a gabby little maniac on my hands. Along with HI and YEY, Riley now says DADDY (not dadadada, but actually DADDY) and TY-TY. Tyler was the complete opposite and really didn't take off with the talking until he was almost 2.

Along the sames lines of no 2 kids being the same, we also have ourselves a climber on our hands. This child climbs on EVERYTHING! Last week, I'm in the kitchen washing dishes when Tyler comes in to tell me that Sissy got on his bed. I reluctantly put the sponge down, and headed to check on her. Sure enough, she was sitting on his bed. I started to yell at him for putting her up there, when I said to myself, let's just see if she really did do this on her own. Within seconds of putting her on the floor, she meandered over to his bed, got on up her tip toes, put one leg up, and the rest is history. OH MY GOD! She's a maniac. Tyler never even processed the thought of climbing on things. We are on our toes with this one. She's climbed on diaper boxes, up the back of lounge chairs, she can maneuver herself out of her high chair buckles and if you sit her in her carseat without strapping her in immediately, she's up and standing looking forward within seconds. I see lots of bumps and bruises in my near future.

While we're talking about climbing, we might as well talk about our "cruiser". From table to couch, along the entire couch, along side my bed, wherever. She cruises along whatever it is she can. Something tells me she will walk a lot sooner than Tyler did. A walk-behind toy is the next purchase on our list, not that I am promoting her walking, but I think she'd thoroughly enjoy it.

She points to EVERYTHING now. If you ask her where Daddy or Ty-Ty are, she'll point as if she knows. She also takes her pointer finger and waves it as if she's telling you "no-no". What a riot! That reminds me... for such a rough and tough little girl, she sure does get her feelings hurt easily. Recently, if you tell her no (like when she's doing something wrong) she looks at you, the bottom lip pops out and the tears flow. I try not to let it get to me, but sometimes I just feel so bad for her, so I pick her up and comfort her. Yes, she knows she's got both of us wrapped.

We had a picnic with a bunch of friends at John Lloyd park one Saturday, which was Riley's first full day at the beach. She did great! Luckily, one of the guys got there early enough to claim one of the picnic tables under a nice shade tree, so I just set up a big blanket and brought along a ton of toys and she was a happy little camper. She even took a nice long nap in her sunshade, while soaking up the fresh sea air.

We celebrated Father's Day during the last month. We had brunch with my Dad and family and then had an early dinner with David's Dad and family. We had a really nice time with all.

On Riley's 10-month birthday, we headed to my family's annual staycation on Hollywood Beach for 4 days of fun, sun, family and friends. It was the first time that Riley stayed in a Hotel Room and she did great. I didn't anticipate it being a problem, and it wasn't. She took naps and slept in her pack-n-play just fine. She's used to it, since that is what she naps in at the sitters house. The days were spent floating around the pool or playing in the sand on the beach. We even took a few strolls down the broadwalk. Most excitedly for Mommy, my cousin Rhonda gave Riley her first Piggy during our Staycation. I was so excited and proud! I can't wait until she has enough hair for 2 Piggys!

Foods: We are just about all table food now. For breakfast, she gets oatmeal and yogurt. Lunch with the sitter is usually a left over or a little toddler meal and dinner is whatever we're having. She still has 3 bottles a day, Morning, Mid-Day and Night.

Apparel: 9 Month clothing and Size 2 shoes.

Happy, Healthy and Growing WAY TOO FAST! And so it goes...
