Our Official Angel

"There is one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, One God and Father of all"
Ephesians 4:5-6

On Saturday, May 14, 2011, we Baptized our "gift from God" in a Baptism ceremony performed by Reverend Gabriel O'Reilly at Saint David Catholic Church. Riley shared her special day with cousin, Raegan and second-cousin, Hailey. The private ceremony was very nice and Riley did very well. She looked so sweet and pure in Mommy's Baptism gown and bonnet. Yes, you read that correctly. My Mom saved my Baptism gown, which was also worn by my sister and my niece at their Baptisms. Taking into consideration that the gown is almost 30-years-old and has now been worn 4 times, it is in VERY good condition. I did have to hand wash it prior to Riley wearing it, because it was a little yellow, but it was perfect. A vintage, sentimental piece of our family history. I plan on keeping it in a safe place for the next generation of DeAtley girls to wear.

Throughout the duration of the ceremony, Riley was mostly fixated on the Pastor. His voice captivated her and kept her attention for most of the ceremony. Occasionally, she stared into her crowd of Witnesses, which was made up of loving family, 5 generations of loving family at that! We truly are so blessed! She got a real wake up call when the Pastor passed the Holy Water over her head. It was a little colder that what she is used to, but she did very well and didn't make a peep.

Following the Baptism, we had a luncheon in the girl's honor to celebrate. I bought all the girls matching outfits to wear and they were perfect. After taking pictures of the girls around their cake, we decided to let them "experiment" with it. Riley, or should I say Ms. Priss, was not at all interested in it. At one point, Daddy told her "go ahead" and she reached out like she was going to go for it, but then quickly backed off. The same cannot be said for the other 2 girls. Hailey was somewhat interested in it, and I think if Raegan had it her way, she would have rolled in it! It was so cute and quite a memory!

It was very nice to have everyone together and we appreciate all who could attend (and those who couldn't) as well as all of the generous gifts and blessings! I would like to especially thank Riley's Godparents, Leah and PJ, for accepting. She is one lucky girl to have you as her Godparents (and Aunt & Uncle)!
