9 Month Milestones

Height: 27" (40th percentile)
Weight: 19.9 pounds(65th percentile)

Sleeping Patterns: Nothing changed here. Bedtime is consistently between 8:30-9:00. I wake her up at 7:00am during the week. On weekends, she'll sleep until about 7:30 or 8:00. Her morning nap is like clockwork, at 10:00. That usually lasts at least 2 hours and then she'll take another nap, which usually lasts about an hour and a half, around 3:30 or 4:00.

Places Traveled: I feel like the last month flew by. I know it seems like time, in general,is flying by, but last month was unusually quick. Hence, the reason this post is almost 2 weeks late. It was a busy month, as our life usually is, but mostly busy here at home. We did manage to squeeze in a trip to Lake Wales on Mother's Day weekend, which was enjoyable.

Accomplishments: Where to begin??? I think we visited Milestone City during this month. My memory is mush, to say the least, so it's a good thing that I document everything in her baby book, or this post would be a lost cause.

We started a while back with the waving. This little Miss America has the wave mastered. Her new thing is now clapping. She claps all the time! It seems she's very proud of herself, as are we and we do a song and a dance when she does it. I WILL get a video and post it. It's so cute!

As I knew it would, shortly after she mastered crawling, she started pulling up on everything. I was in denial for a while, thinking, maybe she'll be happy enough just crawling. My denial bubble was busted one morning when I walked into her room to wake her up and she greeted me, STANDING in her crib. My heart skipped a few beats, since her mattress was not yet lowered (I know, I know, I should have known better, but denial overruled). Needless to say, that night when I got home from work, the mattress went down. BUT.....and you know there's a catch......I didn't put it to the very last notch. I put it on the one above it. That is my last glimpse of hope that maybe she'll slow down a bit. Nevertheless, we're at a safe level now. The same can be said for her crib in Lake Wales also. It's lowered, but not all the way......So, now, we're constantly on our toes, watching what she is trying to pull up on. Some things are not stable enough, and she topples over. I'm sure my next post will include the fact that we have a "cruiser", cruising along the couch, the table and whatever else she can walk along.
Standing in her crib, which is now at a safe level

Continuing along the same lines, we have ourselves a nosy little wanderer. Not only is she crawling and pulling up on everything, she also opens and closes things too. She made her way into the Tupperware cabinet in the kitchen and proceeded to remove EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF TUPPERWARE that we own. And, that's no small amount. I didn't mind, except for the fact that I had to wash 98 pieces of Tupperware when it was all said and done. My Mom watched her one day and said that she emptied out her DVD cabinet. Not a dull moment around here!

We did manage to make it to the beach one weekend, for Sunday morning breakfast on the beach. Riley got to experience her first bagel. Funny part about that was that it was at the same beach, right around the same age that Big Brother Tyler enjoyed his first bagel. What a memory.

Believe it or not, and even I couldn't believe it, Riley had her first dip in the pool during the last month. I had to really think about it and couldn't believe that she hadn't already been in. But, busy bees we are, so I'm not surprised. I've made it a personal goal to have more lazy pool days this summer. Anyhow, she loved it. She even tried to break out of the raft to get to the water. Swimming Lessons, coming soon!

We attended friend Kailyn's First Birthday. Riley loved Kailyn's swing so much, that we left the party and went straight to Toys-R-Us and purchased 2 swings. The next day, Daddy built the kids a swing set, which we use ALL the time. Both the kiddos love an evening swing.

As you read in the previous post, Riley was Baptized during the last month.

Riley attended Mommy's "Blondes Have More Fun" 30th Birthday Party. As we all know, Riley is still a ways away from having the luscious locks that Mommy dreams of. It's coming, slowly but surely. So, in the meantime, we got her a headband that came fully equipped with 2 blonde pigtails. It was perfect for my party and it looked SOOOO cute! Since the party, I have actually put it on her when we've gone out in public, and people just rave about how cute her hair is!!! It's great! A girl can dream, can't she?

Foods: We are well on our way to table food! Recently, I have started giving Riley little nibble-sized pieces of whatever we are eating. I'm still pretty weary of acidic stuff, like tomato sauce, just because of her reflux in the past, but she's tried almost everything else. Now, when I try to feed her dinner out of a jar, she takes 5-6 bites and is over it. So, I just mix it up a little. A bite of jar food, a bite of Mommy's food. Aside from the bagel that I previously mentioned, she also tried a pizza crust for the first time and she ate the entire thing! It took some time to gnaw it away, but she got it all down! What a little piglet!

Apparel: Still in 6-9 Month clothing and Size 2 shoes.
